San Bernardino was a raw and booming
pioneer town in 1911 when Mark B. Shaw, a retired Baptist minister and missionary opened his funeral home.
The only criticism directed
by friends was that the business was located “too far out in the country.”
By mid century — despite modernization and expansion— this criticism was reversed. The firm was jammed in the busiest down town commercial section.
In 1947, plans for further
modernization and expansion were placed in effect, and culminated in a new funeral home on Waterman Avenue, which, when built
was unsurpassed by any other funeral home in the Southland.
Today, this facility has assisted
countless area families who have experienced a death, and serves as the administrative office of AARON Cremation and
Burial Services in Southern California.
With a chapel that seats over
250 people, visitation rooms, casket selection room, and preparation facilities, the Mark B. Shaw Chapel is a full service
funeral home that can serve all of your needs and requests.
